Living Courageously in the New Year!

Courage, a quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to stand strong in the face of adversity.  Courage, a quality shown by someone who decides to accomplish something difficult, new, or dangerous, even though they may be afraid of failure.  Courage, taking life by the reigns, not allowing fear to consume the spirit within.  Courage, the ability to charge through any affliction to fulfill the vision of a brighter future for the benefit of self, a community, or others around the world.

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9  This has been my life verse and my hope is to inspire you through your journey to stand strong in the power of God!

As the New Year approaches, take time to discover what goal(s) you would like to set out to accomplish.  Live courageously, try something brand new!  Live on your edge, take a look over the expanse waiting for you just beyond the cliff, spread your wings and fly!  In my life I have jumped….. trusting God, spreading my wings, knowing that I will fly, soaring high, catching the drafts of wind.  At other times, through the raging storms of life, God has never failed to gently cradle me in His loving arms, speaking hope into my life, giving me the strength and courage necessary to go on.

At times I have felt completely isolated and alone, knowing that only I can fight the battles that rage around me, even within me.  Through sheer determination and the will power of the mind, the deep hope/faith in my heart, and the gift of the breath that God has gifted me with, I claim victory.  To claim the prize set out before me, I have had to go through some of the darkest tunnels this side of heaven, knowing when all else seemed bleak, black, unwilling to bend, I have pulled myself up with every strand left in my being, believing that there is so much more to life!

Through one final escape from a country I once became a part of, married to a man who inflicted my life with emotional terrorism, among other accounts of domestic violence and acts of abuse, I have prevailed!  I beat all odds, and have lived to tell the story in the hopes of inspiring others to overcome, no matter the situation, in hopes of a brighter future.  I have courageously shared my story, my life, my struggles, and my journey to a brighter future with you.  In so doing, Hummingbird Yoga has come about.

I am absolutely thrilled to start teaching yoga classes to all who are willing to live courageously!  Stepping out of your comfort zone, to try something new, to find success in slowing down the breath, the heart, the mind, and opening up your life to a time dedicated to your journey.  I designed each class according to all of the input from those of you who have been reading my blog posts and sharing your life with me. These classes are for anyone willing to try yoga for the first time, picking it up again after years of putting it on hold, or simply wanting to add new dimensions to your current yoga practice. My prayer is that you have realized the healing benefits – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and internally – as I have shared my own personal experiences with you.

My new class schedule/class descriptions for 2018 are listed on my menu page.  Please contact me if you have any questions.  I look forward to seeing you in classes in January.  Please take note that Family Safety Network is gifting women with the one-hour class each Tuesday from 7-8 pm, you can contact their office at 208-354-8058 for a gift card.

In His grace,

Hummingbird Yoga
